A line of people form around the block from photographer Mathew Brady's New York City studio, waiting to see his groundbreaking exhibition titled "The Dead of Antietam," which featured images taken on the front lines of the American Civil War. What attracted people to these chilling and morbid images, and how did these photos transform photojournalism forever? This is the story of how photography evolved from a nondescript and static art medium to illustrating current events like never before.
Join New York Adventure Club as we explore the rise of photojournalism during the American Civil War through the lens of Mathew Brady, who would later become known as the "Father of Photojournalism" for his photos taken at the battlefield of Antietam, which changed how warfare would be seen by the public forever.
